The company

Champion 40A

We are a financial technology company focused on reducing inequities in lending and real estate. Our work is to build software that is inclusive, operationally serious, and useful to the institutions that decide who gets a home.

What we believe

Homeownership remains one of the most durable ways families build stability. Too often, the systems around mortgages and real estate still encode inequity: delays, opaque underwriting, and processes that make qualified borrowers from marginalized communities harder to serve.

Champion 40A exists to change the software layer of that system. We build enterprise SaaS that helps businesses identify those inequities and replace them with inclusive, innovative products.

How the company started

Champion 40A was founded in 2022 by Viola Carmona, a Navy veteran who came to the problem through years of mortgage operations. The company later joined Techstars NYC, an accelerator powered by J.P. Morgan, to scale a SaaS platform around fairer underwriting and more efficient lending workflows.

The name is a reminder of the mandate: to champion a more equitable claim on home and land, and to do that with software institutions can actually run.
